Tranquiltiy Shattered: Singur's Progress, Kolkata's Downfall

So on my way back from Park Street and a sumptious feast of a Rs. 15/- fruity lunch (Fruit Chaat - slices of bananas, pomegrante, papaya, apple, watermelon, pineapple & cucumber with a dash of masala, if I haven't missed anything), I encountered the second Juloos. Singur and the proposed TATA Small car factory is causing the CPI government and the Kolkata streets some heartburn. Mamta Banerjee and her Trinamul Congress Party are not letting up on their demands for justice. Apparently fertile farmlands have been acquired at a pittance and farmers, though they've taken the money, seem to have realised that the monetary gain, though windfall and a sum they've never seen in their lives, isn't going to go a long way. So after the fiasco of the Lathi charge by the Police at Singur a while back, they are now seeking justice for the apparent Police brutality.

Well I'm seeking justice for the sheer brutality of waiting for hours on the road and the city being thrown into sheer disarray with these vilagers blocking off traffic and taking seige of the Kolkata Streets. All the while, I had to hear running commentary from my driver "Mishraji" on how people were brutally beaten up in Singur and that the Government has done the wrong thing and blah, blah, blah.

All I have to say is, that it's about time that Bengal got some Industrialuisation. Ofcourse there is always some collateral damage on the path to Industrialisation, but in the long run, the people of Singur are suddenly going to see the world like never before. There will be opportunity to trade. Shops, masons, carpenters and a huge labour force will be required for Urabnisation of the place. The fact that a factory of this nature is coming up will definitely mean ancilliaries ands group housing colonies. The possibilites are endless. Singur will suddenly be on the Map of not only India, but the world.

So here's a humble request to the People of Singur. Stay of the Roads of Kolkata and stop shouting slogans of "Cholbe na", "Job dao", "Jowaab dao" and WAKE up and smell the success that is coming your way. It'll give our Police guys time to do other stuff, rather than chaperoning you guys down the Kolkata Roads.

OK I didn't mean to wirte this to sound all political and economical. Just frustrated with the state of apathy in this state.

The 7 Wonders at Eco Park

Pyramid & Sphinx Our last excursion to Eco Park in Rajarhat dates all the way back to February 2015. Since then, a myriad of transformations has swept through the park. During a recent journey to the airport, we caught sight of the park's latest additions, which had become the talk of the town, visible from Biswa Banga Sarani. That sighting ignited our decision to revisit the park. Naturally, we concurred that visiting on a weekend would be an exercise in chaos, so we opted for a weekday to fully savor the wonders that awaited us. To our surprise, even on a weekday, the park teemed with visitors. Upon entering Eco Park for a nominal fee of Rs. 30, we were immediately struck by the sheer value it offered. Personally, I would have willingly paid more for the privilege of glimpsing these marvelous creations. Rather than expound further, I'll let the images convey the essence of what lies within. That being said, it unquestionably merits an in-person visit to truly appreciate ...

HAL Heritage Centre and Aerospace Museum

I was in Bangalore and this was the only place I actually wanted visit. So here I am taking the tour of India's first aerospace museum located at the HAL facility (opposite the old Bangalore Airport) spread over 4 acres. The displays of actual aircraft are very cool and so are the galleries showing historical pictures and evolution of HAL and its contribution to the nation in Military Aircraft as well as Aerospace. The disappointing thing at the end of the tour was the Gift shop, where I was hoping to find Scale Models of Aircraft and other Memorabilia from the IAF (Indian Air Force), but instead it was a dreary sight to see a shelf which housed Handicrafts! That just didn't make any sense whatsoever. Anyway for those of you who would like to visit this wonderful Museum, the details are below: HF-24 Marut 1T (D1698) IAF MIG-21 Bison (Trainer Version) HAL HJT-36 Sitara (IJT), Intermediate Jet Trainer Prototype. HAL Tejas mock-up (LCA) Light Weight...
