The XRONG Place could become the Right Place

Last evening I went to a place called the XRONG PLACE which is moonlighting as a coffee shop till it gets the liquor license it had applied for. Built as a pub, the place has the makings of become a hot joint for young people looking for a place to hang out. There's ample space on the ground floor and what looks like a dance floor in the middle. Up a flight of stairs there's a long bar counter with bar stools, but which is not being used yet. The eatery is located just off Sarat Bose Road, closer to the Southern Avenue end.

We ordered a Club Sandwich, Fried Ham Sausages, A cold coffee with ice cream and a cappuccino. All this amounted to a meager Rs. 432/-. I must add that the food wasn’t too bad and the place had some original mustard sauce. I’m a bit particular about the mustard sauce and kind of weigh the place by the pungent choking smell that goes up your nostrils when you have mustard sauce. If the Mustard has the potency of getting tears in your eyes, the eatery knows about the kind of food it is serving.
After that we went to Some Place Else. It had been a while since I’d gone there. I didn’t get valet parking because of a wedding happening at the hotel, but then just drove around the porch and got parking thanks to the kind assistance of a parking attendant just a few metres away.

Once inside Some Place Else, I ordered a beer and while I sipped on the Kingfisher pint waiting for the band, Crystal Grass to warm up its performance and the place to fill up, I reminisced about this place and how it has also been instrumental for me staying in Kolkata this long. Some Place Else is the Mecca of Live performances in Kolkata. Anyway I was just waiting for the band to play their rendition of “All along The Watch tower” which they did. This was followed by one of their original compositions, Bobby Mcgee, Highway to Hell and finished with Zombie; I think this band has potential to create some great music.

    dude...cud u jus lemme know as 2 how much wud alcohol cost out ther in Xrong ?? Any rough idea wud do...

    alcohol is pretty costly...they serve 30mls..a 30ml blenders will cost you 90 rupees..

The 7 Wonders at Eco Park

Pyramid & Sphinx Our last excursion to Eco Park in Rajarhat dates all the way back to February 2015. Since then, a myriad of transformations has swept through the park. During a recent journey to the airport, we caught sight of the park's latest additions, which had become the talk of the town, visible from Biswa Banga Sarani. That sighting ignited our decision to revisit the park. Naturally, we concurred that visiting on a weekend would be an exercise in chaos, so we opted for a weekday to fully savor the wonders that awaited us. To our surprise, even on a weekday, the park teemed with visitors. Upon entering Eco Park for a nominal fee of Rs. 30, we were immediately struck by the sheer value it offered. Vintage Car Show 2018 at The Tollygunge Club

1947 MG TC So here we are once more at The Tollygunge Club on a cold winter morning to catch some rare beauties to warm our hearts. I try to catch these every year if possible and after my recent trip and the number of cars I've seen on it, one would think I'd give it a miss. This year's collection had most of the usual cars with an addition of some more to the fray.  What disappointed though was the limited number of super cars on display. But all that said, it's always a joy to see these wonderful gems still being cared for by their owners and offering us a glimpse into automotive history.
