"Sour"av's Experience was a Bad Innings

Last evening I met up with a few friends; some from out of town and some from town. The common factor we're all from Kolkata and all in the same line of work. While the original plan was to go to Peter Cat, for want of a decent table we ended up going to Sourav's.

The entrance promises 4 floors of Fine Dining, but what we ended up with was a Googly. We were seated on the 1st floor which had a live band that was doing their sound check. To make matters worse we were seated on the table right in front of the band. When we asked about the higher floors, we were told that they would only open post 7 pm. so the half an hour agony was softened with some Antiquity Blue.

Before long the five of us were herded into a lift the size of a coffin and elevated to the third floor. The setting as we stepped off the lift reminded me of a love nest of Sheikh with the arched corner red seating, table cloths on the round tables and gold glittering lights.

Anyway we were seated at a corner table and I sat in the centre of the arch, arms sprawled on both sides lapping in the view of the entire place. Our drinks followed and soon the food started coming. The French fries were decent and then things started deteriorating. It seemed like Ravi Shastri at the crease batting to get his century. After a long wait we got the Fish Fingers and Chilli Chicken. The fish was stale and the chilli chicken, well it was more, sweet than chilli and more, plate than chicken.

Another round Antiquity helped forget the fish n chicken and we ordered a third round, but this time decided to go with the Mutton. I haven't a clue what it was, but the mutton saved a little face for the eatery.

All that done, we paid the bill, an exorbitant one at that and left in the same elevator. Did it just get smaller? Once out we bid each other farewell and promised that if we had any enemies to torture, we'd take them to Sourav's.
