Last evening I was forced to join friends for dinner at Bhojohori Manna. We went to the Hindustan Park outlet and while I had mentioned earlier to a friend that I felt it was a little expensive (at least so I had perceived it to be), I was put in my place when the bill finally arrived. The five of us had a sumptuous meal which included 2 portions of Fish Fry, 3 plates of Luchi (6 per plate), 2 portions of Aluoo Dum, 1 Mutton Biryani, 1 Chicken Biryani, 1 Chiken Dak Bangla and 1 Raita. And the bill was a meagre Rs. 600 odd.
I particularly like the Hindustan Road outlet for its size and décor. Very basic chairs and tables yet modern, the place has a sense of purpose and practicality. A rack with music CDs for sale on the right wall as you enter and bar counter at the far end are some of the first things you notice. Of course you notice that the eatery has been divided into two sections which are pronounced by the two steps that lead to the back. But what I like most about the place is that it is really well lit and gives the essence of an eating place. So you don’t have people sitting around giving ‘adda’. It’s a serious foodie’s delight. Sit, order, eat, pay and leave.
The service sometimes can be a bit tardy, but then with the kind of turnover and orders in hand, it’s excusable; more so when the hosts are courteous and apologetic and attend to every need personally.
All in all Bhojohori Manna gets a 5 Star rating from me.
