Diwali - Festival of Lights

The Festival of Lights – Diwali or Deepawali as it is known is popular in North and South India. But then who doesn’t want to light up firecrackers and witness the magnificent display of lights. After a brief Puja ceremony, we decided to add sparkle to the festival in our own little way. Watching those charkis spinning and the Anaars going up like fountains was so much fun. I guess the smoke emanating from all these crackers is a small price to pay. But then again while was driving through the city I realised that it wasn’t a fog but a blanket of smoke that had engulfed the atmosphere.

I was hoping to capture some Kali Pija Pandals too, but for want of time and energy. I hope to catch some Kali Pujas today. Kali Puja is celebrated in a big way in Kolkata.
