Some Funny Stuff I experienced

Over the past couple of days some strange and rather amusing occurrences have been noticed by me. Like the other day I noticed one of my friends had his Facebook status reading as “is nursing a broken leg & recovering from an accident”. So before I ventured to ask him how he broke his leg, images of him playing some sport, or a fall down some steps were the first to come to mind. I completely eliminated a fall from a bike, because to my knowledge he wasn’t a biker. So when I did finally catch him online and asked him how he happened to fracture his leg, I was shocked to read his answer which was thus: “arre i was in an auto, its brake failed, flipped over & my leg got squashed under it - so now got a fracture, but am recovering :)”.

So now you tell me, is that shocking? With my experience with Delhi Autowallahs, it didn’t surprise me that much.

Another funny thing happened yesterday while I was walking back to office from Theatre Road. I turned to the corner and just entered Loudon Street towards Park Street. I had just about walked 20 feet down the pavement when A Tata Sumo pulled up to the curb and a person from the back seat enquired where the Theatre Road Police Station was. I replied back with a slightly confused look that I didn’t know where the Theatre Road Police Station was specifically, but there was a big Police Station just as you crossed Theatre Road on the opposite side. Infact I turend around and pointed it out to the now several persons sitting in the Tata Sumo. They immediately acknowledged and sped off.

Now you’re wondering why I was confused, right. Well I just gave Directions of the POLCE STATION to a POLICEMAN sitting in a POLICE TATA SUMO. How about that?

    Ha ha ha...that was funny. Or may not be so. Well...you have not mentioned about the police men in detail. Were they the Kolkata Police team or West Bengal Police...or were they from Interpol hee hee. I am sure the last two may not know the address of Theatre Road Police Station.

    Actually I'm not sure what Police they were. But all Plainclothes guys. Maybe some Special Branch or CID types. Anyway which ever one, it was just weird being asked by Policemen where a Police Station was.

Pyramid & Sphinx Our last excursion to Eco Park in Rajarhat dates all the way back to February 2015. Since then, a myriad of transformations has swept through the park. During a recent journey to the airport, we caught sight of the park's latest additions, which had become the talk of the town, visible from Biswa Banga Sarani. That sighting ignited our decision to revisit the park. Naturally, we concurred that visiting on a weekend would be an exercise in chaos, so we opted for a weekday to fully savor the wonders that awaited us. To our surprise, even on a weekday, the park teemed with visitors. Upon entering Eco Park for a nominal fee of Rs. 30, we were immediately struck by the sheer value it offered. HAL Heritage Centre and Aerospace Museum

I was in Bangalore and this was the only place I actually wanted visit. So here I am taking the tour of India's first aerospace museum located at the HAL facility (opposite the old Bangalore Airport) spread over 4 acres. The displays of actual aircraft are very cool and so are the galleries showing historical pictures and evolution of HAL and its contribution to the nation in Military Aircraft as well as Aerospace. The disappointing thing at the end of the tour was the Gift shop, where I was hoping to find Scale Models of Aircraft and other Memorabilia from the IAF (Indian Air Force), but instead it was a dreary sight to see a shelf which housed Handicrafts! That just didn't make any sense whatsoever. Vintage Car Show 2018 at The Tollygunge Club

1947 MG TC So here we are once more at The Tollygunge Club on a cold winter morning to catch some rare beauties to warm our hearts. I try to catch these every year if possible and after my recent trip and the number of cars I've seen on it, one would think I'd give it a miss. This year's collection had most of the usual cars with an addition of some more to the fray.  What disappointed though was the limited number of super cars on display. But all that said, it's always a joy to see these wonderful gems still being cared for by their owners and offering us a glimpse into automotive history.
