I'm Proud Of Kolkata

Yippie!!! Kolkatans, completely fed up with the Bandh, came out onto the streets today and went on with life as usual. For the few "Bheetu" people, thank you for being such losers. The streets were rid of you slow coaches and traffic moved effortlessly. I'm even more proud of the shop keepers, who are usually mostly affected and bear the brunt of the political madness of uneducated cadres (read "goons") of the political parties. They came out and opened their shops and it was business as usual.

Yes yesterday I was condemning the bandh. That doesn't mean that I'm not open to the sentiments of the people of Singur. The Government of West Bengal has taken a stand and made a commitment to it's people of industrializing the state and also to Corporate India of sticking by their commitment. If there is dissent, politicians should debate it at the assembly, not vandalize the place, or then damage the beautiful Maidan with millions of party workers on joyrides into the city, disrupting life here.

Anyway I don't want to get all political and all. All I want is that Bengal has the intellectual capital to spearhead a revolution of sorts, economically speaking.

So, thank you Kolkata for showing solidarity towards having a healthy working culture.

    Bandh in kolkata is the sole reason, that the young generation of kolkata are being exploited in work, if they manage to land any work at all. No one loves to stay away from home to work day and night only to get just a decent living. It is time that the whole wheel turning for more than last two decades is reversed, and some new industries are set up in west bengal. Just think the position of bengal due to bandhs. Today the state has to sanction acres of fertile land to set up industry, when bengal does has its share of uncultivable land. So from my heart I DO Oppose bandhs at every whim of some political people.

The 7 Wonders at Eco Park

Pyramid & Sphinx Our last excursion to Eco Park in Rajarhat dates all the way back to February 2015. Since then, a myriad of transformations has swept through the park. During a recent journey to the airport, we caught sight of the park's latest additions, which had become the talk of the town, visible from Biswa Banga Sarani. That sighting ignited our decision to revisit the park. Naturally, we concurred that visiting on a weekend would be an exercise in chaos, so we opted for a weekday to fully savor the wonders that awaited us. To our surprise, even on a weekday, the park teemed with visitors. Upon entering Eco Park for a nominal fee of Rs. 30, we were immediately struck by the sheer value it offered. Vintage Car Show 2018 at The Tollygunge Club

1947 MG TC So here we are once more at The Tollygunge Club on a cold winter morning to catch some rare beauties to warm our hearts. I try to catch these every year if possible and after my recent trip and the number of cars I've seen on it, one would think I'd give it a miss. This year's collection had most of the usual cars with an addition of some more to the fray.  What disappointed though was the limited number of super cars on display. But all that said, it's always a joy to see these wonderful gems still being cared for by their owners and offering us a glimpse into automotive history.
