Movie Night Once Again, Finally!!

I finally got around to watching a movie at a cinema hall (multiplex) after what seems to be forever. We went to City Centre, bought tickets for the 9.50pm show at INOX and headed towards a much desired taste of Chicken for Dinner. What better place that KFC to relish all the chicken, one can have; Zingers, Snackers et al. So after licking my fingers under the keen eye of every passer by, we headed out to watch the movie everyone was talking about: Taare Zameen Par.

You know its money and time well spent when you go to watch an Aamir Khan movie. The man has reason to make one film in several years. The last Aamir Khan movie I watched was Rang De Basanti and need I rave about that too, or Lagaan or Dil Chahta Hai. No I’m sure we all enjoyed all those movies and agree that Aamir doesn’t need to stoop down to petty Bllywood tittle-tattle on who’s the best actor or Super star… he’s in a league of his own. Yes AB & SRK are the superstars with all the glam sham but Aamir is the true actor of Bollywood. His selection of films and the delivery thereafter in terms of direction, acting, cinematography, casting is impeccable. Not to doubt the time he spends on researching and making each film.

I have to add that the character of Ishaan Awasthi, the dyslexic boy played by Darsheel Safary, who the story revolves around, was just spectacular. Aamir Khan as usual doesn’t try to steal the limelight and gives the right of stardom to the subject and message he’s trying to convey through his film. Of course it wouldn’t be fair if one didn’t praise him for his brilliant acting. The man has the ability to spin a tale and get tears in your eyes or then make you want to jump and dance with joy.

Taare Zameen Par is a must watch and Shankar Ehsaan Loy have just made it more so with their contribution of music. So if you haven’t seen it yet, I believe you should.

The 7 Wonders at Eco Park

Pyramid & Sphinx Our last excursion to Eco Park in Rajarhat dates all the way back to February 2015. Since then, a myriad of transformations has swept through the park. During a recent journey to the airport, we caught sight of the park's latest additions, which had become the talk of the town, visible from Biswa Banga Sarani. That sighting ignited our decision to revisit the park. Naturally, we concurred that visiting on a weekend would be an exercise in chaos, so we opted for a weekday to fully savor the wonders that awaited us. To our surprise, even on a weekday, the park teemed with visitors. Upon entering Eco Park for a nominal fee of Rs. 30, we were immediately struck by the sheer value it offered. AKIRA: A Tiny Japanese Universe in Kolkata

Since we were already out and dinner was calling, we decided to keep things light and find somewhere nearby. A quick search by my wife produced a promising result—a new Japanese place just 9 minutes away , according to Google. Nine minutes? That sounded dangerously convenient. And so off we went to AKIRA , a cute little Japanese cuisine restaurant that is, by almost every definition of the word, tiny . But what it lacks in size, it makes up for in character. The place is done up in Japanese Pop Culture, with Anime and Manga influences everywhere you look. We arrived and, as expected, had to wait a little before we could get in. Which was perfectly fine by me. Because parked outside were two rather handsome motorcycles—a Honda CB350 and a Honda H'ness CB350 . HAL Heritage Centre and Aerospace Museum

I was in Bangalore and this was the only place I actually wanted visit. So here I am taking the tour of India's first aerospace museum located at the HAL facility (opposite the old Bangalore Airport) spread over 4 acres. The displays of actual aircraft are very cool and so are the galleries showing historical pictures and evolution of HAL and its contribution to the nation in Military Aircraft as well as Aerospace. The disappointing thing at the end of the tour was the Gift shop, where I was hoping to find Scale Models of Aircraft and other Memorabilia from the IAF (Indian Air Force), but instead it was a dreary sight to see a shelf which housed Handicrafts!
