A Walk on the Bridge

Since the red “Kazi” has been resurrected, I decided it required some TLC and headed straight for the workshop to give it much needed pampering. A new Battery, spark plug and overhaul of the electrical systems was much in need. So once I rode it there and handed it over to the Service centre for the much needed work, I decided to walk down to Park Circus to catch a cab to office.

The stroll across the No.4 Bridge was quite an eye-opener as I passed the entire Shanty town that occupied one slope of the bridge. As I walked up the pavement over the bridge I looked down each of the alleys created by the little shanties made of waste materials and housing scores of street dwellers. The street was marred with “poo poo” and I had to dodge the morning jobs of many a street dweller. This seemed like a sanitation nightmare. The utter poverty and filth in which these people existed was a rude shock for me.

Anyway once across the bridge I needed to cross the road and since I have been a propagator of using civic amenities provided to us by the authorities decided to use the foot-over-bridge which I had witnessed being erected nearly two years ago. It was quite delightful crossing the bridge and getting a different perspective to the road below which I had used nearly everyday for the past two or more years.

Once on the other side, I hopped into a cab and as I was crossing the Topsia Police Station I noticed the wreck of the Honda Accord. Man that car must’ve been hit by a tank from both ends.

The 7 Wonders at Eco Park

Pyramid & Sphinx Our last excursion to Eco Park in Rajarhat dates all the way back to February 2015. Since then, a myriad of transformations has swept through the park. During a recent journey to the airport, we caught sight of the park's latest additions, which had become the talk of the town, visible from Biswa Banga Sarani. That sighting ignited our decision to revisit the park. Naturally, we concurred that visiting on a weekend would be an exercise in chaos, so we opted for a weekday to fully savor the wonders that awaited us. To our surprise, even on a weekday, the park teemed with visitors. Upon entering Eco Park for a nominal fee of Rs. 30, we were immediately struck by the sheer value it offered. HAL Heritage Centre and Aerospace Museum

I was in Bangalore and this was the only place I actually wanted visit. So here I am taking the tour of India's first aerospace museum located at the HAL facility (opposite the old Bangalore Airport) spread over 4 acres. The displays of actual aircraft are very cool and so are the galleries showing historical pictures and evolution of HAL and its contribution to the nation in Military Aircraft as well as Aerospace. The disappointing thing at the end of the tour was the Gift shop, where I was hoping to find Scale Models of Aircraft and other Memorabilia from the IAF (Indian Air Force), but instead it was a dreary sight to see a shelf which housed Handicrafts! That just didn't make any sense whatsoever. Vintage Car Show 2018 at The Tollygunge Club

1947 MG TC So here we are once more at The Tollygunge Club on a cold winter morning to catch some rare beauties to warm our hearts. I try to catch these every year if possible and after my recent trip and the number of cars I've seen on it, one would think I'd give it a miss. This year's collection had most of the usual cars with an addition of some more to the fray. What disappointed though was the limited number of super cars on display. But all that said, it's always a joy to see these wonderful gems still being cared for by their owners and offering us a glimpse into automotive history.
