The 22nd Bond Movie: Quantum Of Solace

After the build up that’s been happening, I just had to watch this movie. Quantum of Solace the 22nd instalment of the legendary super spy James Bond 007 holds a lot of hope for bond fans, especially after the roaring success of Daniel Craig as Bond in his previous appearance in Casino Royale.

We caught the 10.30 pm show on Friday at Fame Highland Park. Sure enough the place was teaming with eager Bond Fans and once the movie started with Bond being chased by bad guys in Alfa Romeos shooting holes into his trade mark Aston Martin, there was hope that this was going to be another good Bond Film. By the intermission, I realised that the film though well made and action packed lacked any story. This was a Bond film, not as Bond on a mission handed to him by MI5 to go save the world but rather a Bond film about Bond himself on a personal mission of vendetta and rage.

So while the film has some really neat action scenes and the villains and Bond Girls, it lacks the character of a typical Bond Film with James on a Mission to save the world.

I guess with changing geo-economic structure of the world, even Bond has to change and so do the bond plots.
